What We Do

Collaborative Consultancy

Collaboration is at the foundation of everything we do. We value working in partnership for a compelling cause, establishing mutual goals and encouraging innovation. We see the importance of placing the child at the centre of practice and decisions. We believe we can do this by sharing our expertise through consultancy, the Montessori way.

We listen, observe, ask questions, guide, and co-construct solutions which will work for your unique community or needs. Combined, our team has many decades of experience in early years education, not only in Montessori teacher training,  but also in school leadership, mentorship, course design and social impact projects.

Each member of our team has a specialism, and a unique contribution to our collaborative, and if we don’t have the specific expertise you need, we know someone who does! Consultancy requires listening and problem solving, as well as new unique approaches to benefit schools, training, and ultimately the children in our care.

Collaborative Consultancy can help with course development, starting a new nursery, improving practice in your setting, or helping develop new ideas and projects with a Montessori focus. We value and encourage community. A community that cares about each other, care about the world and its future, and work towards this through collaborative work and inclusion. Our community is where all members feel a sense of belonging, share passion for social justice, peace, education and actively contribute to positive changes.

Part of our consultancy is our commitment to social impact work, to help ensure accessible Montessori that is culturally responsive and rooted in using education as a tool for peace. Collaborative Consultancy is here and ready to contribute to your positive change.

Collaborative Accreditation

Our Collaborative Accreditation Programme offers settings the opportunity for a meaningful review of their existing Montessori practice, using a scheme that encourages self-evaluation and reflection; settings are supported by experts in the field of Montessori education who commit to provide appropriate bespoke guidance and resources to aid progressive development.

Our mentors and assessors will enter into a respectful relationship with each setting where their unique circumstances and characteristics are taken into consideration and celebrated at each stage of the process.

Whilst maintaining an open view on current practice, our programme provides clear criteria that define high quality Montessori practice, from which settings can learn, evaluate themselves and plan for further development.

Our accreditation programme is created around the principles of the dynamic triangle where the child is always at the centre of this interrelated and multifaceted relationship and where the environment remains the important tool through which natural development unfolds; it recognises the role of the adult as shared amongst all significant people in the life of the child and that this role extends to the wider community too.

Our Accreditation programme is a reflective approach to quality assurance, one which:

- Identifies and celebrates Montessori best practice, whilst acknowledging that each setting is unique in its outlook and circumstances.

- Promotes quality enhancement, collaboration and a developmental outlook.

- Enables authentic Montessori settings to be recognised, for their work to be celebrated and to enable them to be promoted and acknowledged as offering high quality Montessori practice.

At Collaborative Montessori we believe that reflective practice is an essential process in ensuring the best outcomes for the children we care for and their families; developmental goals and aspirations are better achieved when we collaborate and grow together.

Collaborative Accreditation

“On every teacher and every parent, I urge not great instruction, but humility and simplicity in dealing with small children. Their lives are fresh, without rivalry or external ambitions, it takes so little to make them happy, to let them work in their own way towards the normal development of the men and women they will be.”
Montessori M (2012) The 1946 London Lectures Amsterdam: Montessori Pierson Publishing

Testimonials

“I remember, when I was new to the Montessori world, asking another Montessori school Head why she had not taken her school through accreditation. She replied, ‘Who are they to comment on my practice?’ Now, with many years’ experiences behind me, I can fully answer that question. If I knew everything and there was no more space to learn and grow, both individually and as a team, I would pack up tomorrow. If you feel strongly about any element of your practice, then robustly defend it. Maria Montessori died without leaving a patent and as such there are lots of questionable Montessori practices out there. As she left a base on which to build, we Montessorians must build upon that base for future generations, for our children, who will make the difference.A good accreditation scheme is a supportive one, an outstanding one is a collaborative one. One that learns with you, from you and together. Collaborative Montessori is that in name and practice. Their team are experienced Montessorians that, like us, are striving to keep authentic Montessori alive, yet are evolved enough to appreciate any practice that dovetails into the Montessori way of life.Accreditation is important to who we are in Children’s House Montessori. ... We are highly qualified reflective practitioners, which means we are always looking at how we can do things better, for the benefit of the children we nurtureand to improve ourselves.Accreditation is growth and, when you grow with the children you teach, you all reach for the stars.”
Owner/Manager of Children’s House Montessori (Birling, Kent), the first school to complete and achieve Collaborative Montessori Accreditation

“The accreditation process has been meaningful, helpful and good opportunity to further reflect and get an experienced Montessorian to share ideas in the interests of the children and the setting.  It was positive and so lovely and special to see valued Montessorian colleagues still flying that unique flag to maintain Maria Montessori's legacy.” owner of Barnes Montessori

“Montessori accreditation holds immense significance for a Montessori school as it serves as a mark of quality and a testament to the adherence to the principles of the Montessori philosophy. It signifies that the school has successfully met the rigorous standards set by accrediting bodies, highlighting its commitment to providing an authentic Montessori education. This year, Bloom takes great pride in announcing that we have once again achieved accreditation. We are immensely grateful for the invaluable advice and experience we gained through our partnership with Collaborative Montessori. This organization is dedicated to supporting and nurturing authentic early-year Montessori settings while considering the unique circumstances and approaches of each school. Their expert assistance and thoughtful consideration have played a pivotal role in our success”
owner of Bloom Sarajevo

“We were all very glad to have undertaken the accreditation process and it has reminded us of what we highly value as Montessori guides.
I am immensely proud of what we achieve on a daily basis and recognise that the strength of commitment and dedication to Montessori philosophy by the team enables us to provide an unique and special learning environment for the children.  We are aware of the community we have created and really feel that the relationship between the parents, children and staff is special I would very much like to commend Hannah Khiani for her time, consideration and real evaluation of our practice. It was wonderful for us to have such a respectful and respected assessor.”
owner of Village Montessori

“We as a school would like to take a moment to say thank you for coming to Lusaka, Zambia and to Collaborative Montessori for taking the time for our Accreditation Process. With great pride and satisfaction that we can now look back on the journey we embarked upon to attain this significant milestone a year ago.The accreditation process has been an invaluable experience, one that has pushed us to strive for excellence and continuously improve our practices. It has challenged us to critically evaluate our approach to Montessori and early childhood education and ensure that we are providing the highest quality of care and education to our young learners.Throughout this process, we have demonstrated our unwavering commitment to the Montessori philosophy and its principles. We have embraced the belief in fostering independence, self-discipline, a love for learning in our students. By creating a prepared environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and critical thinking. The accreditation journey has not only been about meeting standards and requirements but also about personal and professional growth. We have expanded our knowledge, honed our skills, and embraced new ideas and perspectives. The collaboration and support from our team, as well as the wider parent community, has been instrumental in our success. As we celebrate this achievement, let me also acknowledge the impact it will have on the lives of the children and families we serve. Our accreditation signifies that we are providing an exceptional educational experience that will shape the future of our young learners. It is a testament to our dedication and passion for early childhood education. As Maria Montessori said “Early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society.”I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each and every member of our team for their hard work, commitment, and unwavering belief in the Montessori ethos. It is through our collective efforts that we have achieved this accreditation, and I am truly honored to be a part of such a dedicated and talented group. We will cherish this moment of celebration and use it as a stepping stone for further growth and success. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families, providing them with an exceptional Montessori education that will shape their futures.” owner of Casa Dei Bambini, Zambia

Collaborative Training

Collaborative Training is firmly based on our commitment to work and learn together, and for this to continue to create opportunities for teachers, parents and adults in the community who are dedicated to and care about all children now, and about the world they will inhabit and contribute to, in the future.

We are dedicated in promoting lifelong learning and we share the responsibility all Montessorians to continue to challenge, understand and evolve to best serve the child. We share the responsibility to encourage and develop dispositions, attitudes, knowledge and abilities for reflective practice. At Collaborative Montessori, we design and provide opportunities, tools, resources, and mentoring support to develop and share expertise, knowledge and skills and cultivate continued professional and personal development- cornerstones of effective, compassionate, and inspirational education.

We organise regular workshops centred on specific aspects of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy that underpin and are applied in teachers’ and parents’ daily interactions with children.

Our workshops are created to respond to and meet the interests and the needs expressed by colleagues in the community; they are hosted by colleagues for colleagues and are also open to parents or anyone interested.

With many Montessorian colleagues ready and willing to support the whole community, each workshop is run in a different Montessori setting, with representative members of the team welcoming participants and opening their prepared environment. All workshops provide resources and guided discussion to nurture mutual support and sustained shared learning.

We design and deliver bespoke workshops for Early Years Montessori Settings, for continued professional development. These Collaborative Montessori workshops are created in full partnership with schools: together we identify your needs, we analyse and agree on the theme or focus of content. We look together at the time and mode of participation and delivery (online, in person, blended synchronous sessions). Workshops can be sessional, for your inset day CPD, or can be designed as a cycle of workshops.  What we offer is therefore unique and tailored to your setting and team.

We are developing our Training Courses. It is still early days, since we formed Collaborative Montessori, and we hope to share with you the launch of the first course in the near future.
